You read a lot of tutorials and heard of programs that want to sell you the "magical" formula to immediately stop smoking? Well, then try go for it! I am quite sure that none of these things will bring you the results you want. If you want to know why this is the case read on.
Smoking is much more than only a bad habit, it's an addiction. You surely read a lot of stuff on how bad smoking is and how it can harm your life and the lives of your children. You certainly read that but somehow you managed to push that besides and go on with your habit. Well don't worry, you're not alone! That's the typical behavior of every smoker because they are all simply addicted of the nicotine.
Nicotine is such a powerful stuff and to get away is a really hard thing. You can try these chewing gums that claim to help you get away from cigarettes, but let's face the fact: "Do you think it's clever to get away from nicotine by using nicotine? "That's simply silly and I promise you this will not work! If you really want to stop smoking there are exactly three things you should know:

Knowledge about the physical addiction

Knowledge about the psychical addiction

The right mindset

It's really important that you know how nicotine works and what you have to expect when you make the decision to keep that stuff out of your body. Nicotine is something like a neurotoxin that attacks synapses in your brain. Usually there's a transport of acetycholin between these synapses but the nicotine blocks out everything, which is the start of all the effects nicotine can do to your body and health. It's too much to cover that all in detail but what I wanted to advise is to get as much information about the physical things that happen if you smoke.
Additionally you should read about the psychical addiction of nicotine. First of all, if you really want to stop smoking you should do it immediately and don't bother trying such things like smoking less and less. You have to stop it immediately because the only thing (well honestly the first) is to get that nicotine out of your body. Then you suffer about 3 days ( plus minus) of physical revocation and then there's the stage of psychical revocation which can last several weeks.
Build up the mindset is the key to success! Don't believe all these books and "magical" recipes that tell you a mystical formula to get away from cigarettes, it's only in your mind! Once you developed the mindset, you can be sure that you will make it! No one says it's an easy path to walk but it's a way in a better future. After just two days you will find that your lung is much more powerful and you can do things (sports etc.) with much more power so that it helps you to build the mindset to not smoke anymore. So all in all there's only one weapon that can help you to manage this... yourself!
This infection can last for a week or so. Sudden aching muscles, sore throat, headache, severe malaise and even high fever characterize it. Like other fevers, the cardinal symptoms are high temperature, stiffness of the limbs and a sore throat.
Influenza spreads fast. It is spread by direct contact through the air. The virus easily passes on from person to person - through droplets or small particles produced when infected people sneeze or cough. Most people infected by influenza recover without medical treatment. However, in the very young, the elderly and those with other serious medical conditions, the infection can lead to severe complications. The underlying condition can be pneumonia or death.
Fever is the main symptom of influenza. It can last from 3-7 days. Fever can be as high as 103-105 degrees F or 39.5-41°C. In the absence of fever, patients usually feel better but so much sweating is present. Fever can also result to dehydration since body water is lost in the onset of high temperatures.
When experiencing influenza, patient should take only liquid food for 2 to 3 days. Solid foods may be avoided temporarily. Fruit juices and vegetable are also very beneficial as well as one or two glasses of hot water. You can also apply cold compresses on the head.

A person with influenza should be covered with light clothing when there is fever present. This is in order for the heat in the body to get out. Get rid of extra clothes and blankets from an influenza patient unless they start to feel cold or they start to shiver.
Washing the patient's skin with warm water or wash cloth can lessen fever. You can also help him take a shower. Do not use alcohol or cold water. Sweating is a good sign that the body is losing heat. Monitor the fever with a clean and good thermometer. Normal body temperature is 98.6°F (37.0°C) though it varies between the time of day and in people with different body weight and other factors. Body temperature with fever is 101.5°F (38.6°C).
Widespread influenza or an outbreak happens every now and then, as it had been an epidemic for the past years - claiming numerous lives.
Staying healthy and having strong body resistance are the best ways to avoid influenza. However if you feel your resistance is down or low, you should avoid public and crowded places, especially during epidemics. In this case, avoid theaters, shopping centers and markets. Keep distance from people with fever and those who are coughing or sneezing. Do not expose yourself to too much wet and cold weather. Avoid becoming over-worked, rundown or tired.
As usually advised, drinking alcohol and smoking can lower your resistance. So avoiding them is the best therapy. A healthy diet and a good, clean lifestyle can increase as well as maintain good and strong body resistance.
Its structure is similar to that of intestine. Inflammation of it is termed as appendicitis. Its lumen may get obstructed to initiate infection. Infection can occur as such without an obstruction. The classical symptoms include

Pain, starting from around the umbilicus and settling in the right lower abdomen.

Vomiting, two to three times or till the stomach contents are expelled out.

Fever, typically around 100 degree Fahrenheit.

The symptoms vary considerably to confuse with other diseases giving rise to similar symptoms.

A Mackel's diverticulitis causes similar symptoms, but here pain is more toward the flanks and positions a little upwards. It is sometimes difficult to distinguish between the two; necessitating a surgical exploration.

Diverticulosis or diverticulitis of right side of colon is often associated with that of left side, as diverticulum occur at multiple places throughout colon. Pain on pressure can be felt as well in the left side. It may be associated with blood and/or mucus in the stool. Usually, middle aged male suffer from it.

Amoebic colitis of right side may give rise to similar symptoms, but usually associated with that of left side. Here, an identical pain on pressure spot on left side can be found. Besides this, a history of mucus motion in the recent past will help in diagnosis. A stool examination may be a corroborative finding.

Right ureteric colic can be differentiated by the fact that, the patient is never comfortable in any one position and tries to change position frequently in search of relief from pain. Change of position hurts a patient suffering from appendicitis. A history of urinary tract infection and accompanying blood in urine may be helpful.

Orchitis or epidydimo-orchitis of testis can be differentiated by the swollen and painful testis in that side. A history of filarial infection or mumps will aid the diagnosis.

Mesenteric adenitis usually found in children can be differentiated by the shifting nature of pain with change of position of patient. A preceding history of upper respiratory infection will be supplementary to diagnosis.

A perforated duodenum or stomach causes more problem in diagnosis. Here, there is card board like rigidity of abdomen, patient looks very sick, Symptoms and signs of shock may be present. Free gas under the diaphragm; seen in a plain x-ray, points towards perforation of hallow viscous.

Inflammation of gall bladder; cholecystitis gives rise to Murphy's sign. It is, catching of breath while pressure is applied over the gall bladder in the height of respiration. Besides, a gall bladder may be palpable along with jaundice.

Pancreatitis; inflammation of pancreas is a much more serious condition, usually associated with severe pain in the upper abdomen and features of shock. Here patient prefers to sit and lean forward to get relief from pain. History of gall bladder disease and alcoholism may be there.

Salpingitis or parametratis of right side in ladies may confuse, but a history of discharge per vagina and a pelvic examination will exclude it.

Ruptured ectopic tubal pregnancy can be differentiated by a history of stoppage of menstruation for two to three preceding months, profound anemia and features of shock.

A twisted ovarian cyst simulates it; a per vaginal examination by an experienced gynaecologist always helps.

Mid-cycle pain, Mittleschmerz is innocent condition which can be differentiated by history taking and observing the patient for some time.

Endometriosis is a condition where sometimes bleeding occurs into the peritoneum from an ectopic inner layer of uterus. It is invariably associated with the timing of menstruation.

There can be a few more conditions and rare diseases which may come as differential diagnosis of appendicitis, which I have not mentioned here. An ultrasonogram by an experienced sinologist will invariably distinguish other disease and confirm appendicitis. A CT scanning may not be more informative than ultrasonogram. A plain x-rays is also helpful along with a simple urine analysis. Sometimes a diagnostic laparoscopy may help to diagnose the disease correctly, plan a surgery or a conservative approach. In spite of all these investigations, sometimes the correct diagnosis is not possible. An appendicectomy, if inadvertently performed causes no harm if no other disease if found. Lastly, the diagnosis of appendicitis is largely based on clinical finding; investigations increase the accuracy to a certain extent and more often supplement it. So, appendicitis is very easy as well as very difficult to diagnose even in these days.
The comb-over is not necessarily a given - but a man must make a resolute effort to manage the condition. Here are three simple steps to take charge of your hair and keep it in tact.
1. Check Your Hair
Many men like the fact that they can be up and out the house in five minutes and complain that women spend too much time primping and preening. But actually, the first thing a man must do to avoid going bald is take the time to check himself regularly in the mirror. Pull the frontal hairline back to see if it appears to be receding and look at the crown area and check for thinning hair or more scalp showing. It is normal to lose between 50 and 100 hairs a day, but keep an eye on how much comes out on the pillow, in the shower and on your comb. Knowing what is normal means that you will spot any changes early.

2. See a Specialist
As soon as you notice any changes, you should consult with a specialist. They will give you a diagnosis of the condition. While hair loss in men is usually genetic, it can be a symptom of an underlying health condition so it is important to get an accurate diagnosis. Whatever the cause is, a reputable hair specialist will discuss matters in detail and explain how to best manage the condition and, if the diagnosis is Male Pattern Baldness, will advise on treatments.
3. Consider Hair Loss Treatments
There are many products that claim to cure male hair loss, but the best way to maintain your hair and ensure optimum re-growth is to use an individualised treatment programme. There are only two products which have shown sufficient evidence in large scale clinical trials to be effective in treating Male Pattern Baldness. As a result of these studies, Propecia and Minoxidil have been licensed by the MHRA and approved by the FDA for the treatment of hair loss in the UK and the USA respectively. They way in which they are prepared though can have a significant impact on their effectiveness. Minoxidil can be prepared in different strengths and made with added booster products to increase its efficiency. A good specialist be able to prescribe you a hair loss treatment programme that is best suited to your stage of hair loss and therefore most likely to bring about the results you want to see.
There is a lot of marketing hype out there about the hair loss industry but a man following these three simple steps is giving himself the best shot at beating baldness.
Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Sophie_Crane
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8402079997093337383.post-13413339085739071662009-10-29T09:00:00.000-07:002010-05-11T01:15:29.174-07:00How to Determine If You Have Allergies
During certain times of the year it is very common to hear talk about allergies. The symptoms can be confusing, however. If you battle a dry throat, chest congestion and a stuffy nose, is it allergies or just a cold?
The following symptoms can be signs of having allergies. If you have two or more of these symptoms for more than one or two weeks out of the year, you may have an allergy and should talk with your doctor.
1. Nasal congestion
2. Runny nose
3. Itchy eyes or nose
4. Red eyes
5. Sneezing

Allergies affect about 50 million adults and children in the United States alone. And allergies are the 5th leading cause of chronic disease, after illnesses such as heart disease, cancer and diabetes.
Here are some questions you can ask your doctor if you are diagnosed with allergies:
1. What is causing my allergy symptoms? What kind of allergies do I have?
2. What are my treatment options? What lifestyle changes can I make?
3. Will allergy shots work for me? How often will I need to get them?
4. Will I need to take allergy medications in addition to my shots?
Having allergies can be aggravating at the very least, and can lead to a more serious illness if not brought under control. Allergies can cause you to snore, which in itself is not serious, but snoring can be disruptive and cause a lack of refreshing sleep. This means you may be tired during the day, which will have a negative impact on your everyday life. If you think you may have allergies, see a doctor to get the treatment that is best for you.
